WALKING COUPLES

My wife and I are taking a walk in the river dyke park,
one ahead, one behind.
Approaching us is an intimate
middle aged couple,
holding hands,
all smiles.
A younger couple walking behind me,
husband and wife hand in hand,
the guy says: Look at that pair,
married so long
and still in love holding hands!
The woman retorts: Forget it!
At first look you can see, they are not married!
Middle aged married couples
are always walking behind each other!

I look behind,
my wife and I, we eye each other
and break out laughing.
