BIRDS AND CORN COBS
My 80-year old aunt,
to protect her corn seeds from birds,
spreads rat poison in her field.
In the morning I see her,
she picks up about one dozen dead sparrows,
puts them in a plastic bag.
Walking along the ridge,
she swears:
„Damn birds,
no matter how many die,
they cannot pay me for one cob of corn.“
