LAST MONTH

I sit on the chair of June 1st
and think of things of last month.
Last month was May,
only one day ago.
I can’t grasp anything
that went on in there.
47th birthday,
fight with my wife,
unused coupons.
Bought pants, couldn’t return them.
These things,
just let them be gone.
If there is a wall
between May and June
and there is a crack
that allows me to travel
from June into May
there is this one thing I would do:
Great-grandmother who passed on May 1st
at 99, let her live past 100.
