Elegy

 

Moonlight going through the woods

and I think of my beloved

resting in the yellow earth

and a shot rings far away.

 

I was full of arduous thoughts

shouldering my country’s fate

now my hands are hanging bare

blunt and rusty is my blade.

 

Moonlight going through my head

and I think of my beloved

I am wandering, growing old

you are dead, forever young.
