Jiang Huhai
I OFTEN HAVE GRAND ENTITIES ON MY MIND
Toby was my little dog.
I changed his name and called him Earth.
Came home late at night, reclined on a chair
Earth at my feet.
Then I picked up Earth into my lap,
for some quality time.
Proceeded to give Earth a bath,
clipped his hair.
Disinfected Earth’s wounds, put on a bandage,
told Earth to calm down and relax.
Then I changed Earth’s name into Sky.
Later he became Ocean.
Everything I had done to the Earth,
I did to the Ocean, etc. etc.
