YEAR OF THE PANDEMIC

When we were most terrified
I even made my dogs put on masks.
At first
they were afraid,
protested,
tucked in their tails
clawed at me to show their refusal.
Now,
whenever they see me pick up a mask,
they come running and jumping,
wagging their tails,
thinking I’am going to
take them outside.
