Yi Sha
MOTHER TONGUE
In the green hills
each of these hermits
they all have a dog.
We are taking a walk
they jump out barking like mad.
I shout in Chinese: “Go to hell!”
Doesn’t help.
They are jumping us.
Woman writer JoAnn from Chicago
yells: “Shit!”
Dog starts to listen
and slinks away.
