WINTER
On my way to the vegetable supermarket
in our compound
I see a small girl
on a big rock at the artificial lake
right above the ice going to
jump!
I am shouting:
„Don’t jump! Danger!“
But in this time
she has jumped already,
lightly,
safely
landing on the thick surface.
She turns around to me,
makes a ballet move
and becomes a small white swan.

WINTER
Ich geh zum Gemüsesupermarkt
in der Wohnhausanlage,
seh auf dem Weg ein kleines Mädchen
auf einem Felsen am künstlichen See,
sie will auf das Eis hinunter
springen!
Ich schrei:
„Achtung! Nicht springen!“
aber in der Zeit
ist sie schon gesprungen,
ganz leicht
und sicher
auf dem festen Eis gelandet.
Sie dreht sich zu mir um
in einer Bewegung aus dem Ballett
und wird ein kleiner weißer Schwan.

und springt vom 8. Stock.

Ru Ye
AT MALAYSIA’S KENTING CASINO
Too many gamblers jump to their death
from above the clouds at 1800 meters.
The Kenting Casino has 6118 beds,
floating up there like in Taoist caves,
away from it all.
Now you can only just stretch out your hand,
every window’s restricted.
To fly like a fairy,
look for other options.
Every ceiling in every bedroom
has a black arrow
(first time I slept under a sword of Damocles) ,
to show the direction for prayer.

KOLLEGE
ein gedicht
hält keinen panzer auf
aber ein panzerfahrer
schreibt vielleicht ein gedicht
er springt aus seinem eisenhaufen
sitzt unter bäumen
versinkt in gedanken
schreibt solche sätze:
frühling ist noch nicht da
ein paar vögel
landen auf einer grünen kanone
und zwitschern

COMRADE
poetry
won’t stop a tank
but could make a poet
out of the driver
he jumps from his heap of iron
sits down under a tree
gets lost in thought
writes down such lines:
spring has not yet arrived
a few birds
land on a green cannon
twittering

DEFECT
There is a defect
in the urinal in this restaurant.
You stand in front,
it squirts water.
I didn’t know
so I jumped.
Fuck,
haven’t started to pee,
this thing pees on me.

MOTHER TONGUE
In the green hills
each of these hermits
they all have a dog.
We are taking a walk
they jump out barking like mad.
I shout in Chinese: “Go to hell!”
Doesn’t help.
They are jumping us.
Woman writer JoAnn from Chicago
yells: “Shit!”
Dog starts to listen
and slinks away.

Tang Guo
CHILDHOOD GAMES
they tied my hands and my feet
let me hop up the stairs to second floor
if I made it all the way up
hopping up without falling
I would get a handful of candy
tight ropes around hands and feet
I had to hop like a frog
the first jump was easy
the second stair was not too bad
it got hard later on
grinning grown-ups upstairs on the landing
their hands full of candy
gleaming in colours
I held down my pain
kept telling myself to be strong, to go on
many times I almost fell on the stairs
but in the end I held on to myself
I raised my small hands up together
thanking someone somewhere beyond
I finally got the candy I dreamed of
then grown-ups got bored and dispersed
