Shēngcài fànhòu huàtán hǎo, píngguǒ xiāoshí yíngyǎng gāo; After a meal, lettuce is good for reducing phlegm. Apples are highly nutritious and stimulate digestion. Cǎoméi zīxuè yǎng róngyán, jiànshēn yìshòu chī xiān táo; Strawberries nourish the blood and build up your appearance. Eat fresh peaches for a long and healthy life.
Salad
Xiāngjiāo tōngbiàn jiě weìhuǒ, lìzi qiángjīn bǔ xūláo; Bananas ease constipation and dissolve heat in the stomach. Chestnuts strengthen the tendons against consumption. Gānjú xiāoshí huà tányè, yìzhì aíjūn míhóutáo; Tangerines help digestion and dissolve phlegm, whereas kiwifruits act against cancer and bacteria.

Guìyuán bǔnǎo yòu yǎngxīn, jiànwèi bǔ pí chī hóngzǎo; Longans build up the brain and foster the heart. Eat red dates to nourish the spleen and strengthen the stomach.

Cabbage
Yáncù fángdú néng xiāoyán, cháng chī càihuā, aízhèng shǎo; Salt and vinegar can work against toxins and inflammation. Regular intake of cauliflower reduces the chances of cancer. Tǔdòu hé wèi jiǎn tǐféi, dòu jiědú zuì wéi miào; Potatoes calm the stomach and reduce body fat, while green soybeans are best against toxins and inner heat.

Hóngshǔ yìqì jiàn píwèi, shānyào zīyǎng bǔ shènyāo; Sweet potatoes benefit your vital energy and restore the taste,  yams are nutritious and build up the kidneys. Mù’ěr kàng ái sù zhōng hūn, mógu yìzhì aí xìbāo; Shitake tree fungus has anticancer effects and substitutes meat. Mushrooms also restrain cancer cells.

Hǎidài  hándiǎn xiāo yūjié, chá zhī cháng yǐn bìngyàng xiāo; Kelp contains iodine to help with clogged blood. Drink tea and juice regularly to reduce the chance of getting sick. Niúnǎi dòuzhī zēng jīngqì, qíndàn yìzhì yíngyǎng hǎo; Cow’s milk and soy milk strengthen your vital energy. Bird’s eggs are highly nutritious and benefit the brain.

Yúxiā zhūtí bǔ rǔzhī, dòngwì gānzàng míngmù hǎo; Fish and shrimps, as well as pig’s trotters, build up mother’s milk, and any animal’s liver is good for eyesight. Fēngmì rùnzào  yòu  yìshòu, pútáo  yuèsè lìng nián shǎo. Honey moistens the respiratory tract and brings a long life. Grapes make you look good and appear young.

FOOD HEALING SONG;  Chalkboard message 2006 downstairs at our flat in Beijing. The chalkboard was mostly for slogans exhorting good behavior and Party spirit, according to the latest campaign. One time it was different, as you can see. I heard the board was taken down recently. What a shame!
