SHOULD YOU LAUGH OR CRY – 谷驹休 Gu Juxiu

六月 7, 2020

Gu Juxiu
SHOULD YOU LAUGH OR CRY?

Disinfectant alcohol, distributed against the virus,
some people drink it as liquor.
Street committee worker stands at the door,
shouts inside.
Old guy sits
on his old broken bed,
drags on a cigarette.
Drunk as a skunk, waves his hands,
No hospital! No one pumps out his stomach!
Just keeps muttering,
“Fuck little thing, not worth the money!“

FEBRUARY – 王允 Wang Yun

六月 6, 2020

Wang Yun
FEBRUARY

My wife taught me not to touch the elevator,
but to bring a few seeds when I went out.
When I was done I would throw them into the grass by the door.
Lockdown days went on longer and longer,
I had thrown away seeds over one dozen times.
January passed into February,
every time I threw an arc I would think
maybe in March we will have
a patch of sunflowers coming out.

ALL SORTS

all sorts of factors and factories
all sorts of tractors
all sorts of actors
all sorts of dorks
all kinds of assorted windshield wipers
all sorts of snipers
maybe some kind ones
kind to their weapons
and also to people
something
in all sorts of people
when you listen
to water, to wind
when you feel the sun
in the woods
when you find
something to share
bare for the joy
when we walk
anywhere
in paths and trees
in cemeteries, in streets and fields
sharing ourselves
with the light and the night
within and around
each other
amen

RUNNING OUT

I am running out of days
everyone runs out
in the end
but don’t worry it’s not that bad
world doesn’t stop
for everyone at the same time
it’s the end of the month
the 31st
and I promised to finish a book
months ago years ago
I guess this is the poem
I wrote the night before
not last night in my head
before I went to sleep
and then I forgot it

TANGLED – 湘莲子 Xiang Lianzi

六月 5, 2020

Xiang Lianzi
TANGLED

Someone has told me
I should use my profession and set up a stall on the ground
Maybe I could make over three hundred thousand per month,
much more than with regular work at the hospital.
I am moved at heart,
but tangled up too.
Should I give shots at my stall,
or should I tell people their fortune
or should I interpret their dreams?
Stupid!
It’s TCM, stupid!
I have to offer Traditional Chinese Medicine!
If anyone says I am doing it wrong,
I call the cops and say he slanders
and insults TCM.

A DAY

This is a day when everyone outside is wearing a mask
This is a day of restaurants closed
This is a day of everyone rushing back home
This is a day of walking and keeping your hands in your pockets
This is also a day
of an old man
by the side of the road
without a mask
holding up frozen red hands
with a sign
against abortion

举着

AMERICA RUSHES INTO THE STREETS – 沈浩波 Shen Haobo

六月 3, 2020

Shen Haobo
AMERICA RUSHES INTO THE STREETS

America holds down America
America oppresses America
America pleads with America
America despises America
America kills America

America can’t breathe and dies
America cries for America
America rushes into the streets
America protests America
America burns America

America’s rockets shoot into the sky
America’s blacks take to the streets
Remember that time
We are all humans
Humans govern humans
Humans slaughter humans
Humans resist humans

Humans have dreams
Dreams soar up to the universe
Humans crave dignity
The greatest dignity
Called freedom & equality
The battle is not up in the sky
Always has been down in the streets

Now there comes another one,

It has only the driver.
Ai-uh, this time there is no-one at all
who could do the booking.

Some even change into

Noch ein Kommentar:

Ich les weiter und sage nichts.
Vor einigen Jahren bei einer Veranstaltung
hat eine Sprecherin der staatlichen Künstlervereinigung
verkündet: „Der große Dicher Ai Qing [Vater von Ai Weiwei, 1910-1996]

Als ich das gehört hab

ONE

五月 24, 2020

ONE

One month ago, a little more, less than two
the world went quiet.
It had become quiet in China before
accompanied by all sorts of noise.
But when it arrived
it was precious.
There is strife here too,
who caused it to spread,
who didn’t close
ski entertainment.
But on the whole
Austria
or any place actually
became like never before,
except in or after the war,
and that was very different,
not that I was around.
But no Nazis, for one.
Yeah, maybe right after the war,
they were also in hiding.
Anyway, in times of peace,
only one headline:
Look Out For Youse,
something like that,
look out for yourself and each other,
but in one word.
Schaut auf Euch.
And we were lucky.
Take care!

YERPA

Attachment is hard, you want to break free and you can’t.
Laughter, then crying, crying, then laughs.
Is laughing better? Not as high as the mountain or small as the moon.
You are still attached, you want to forget and you can’t.
Would be good if you could, good and gone.
Gone but not gone? Be good, leave it unfinished?
Attachment is ever unfinished.
Because you want too much, and receive not enough,
you have trouble. Black hair can be cut,
trouble cannot.
Attachment is understood but not gone, because you don`t want it
or cause you don’t dare? You can`t give it up,
or don`t get what you want?
You have one hundred thousand great peaks, I only want
a temple so small you don’t know it is there.
You have the ends of the world, I only want
ten steps of green grass.

LIFE IS PRECIOUS INDEED

On the third day of the lunar new year,
he takes his wife
and goes to Tibet.

All his friends say:
“You have quite a nerve!
To go for a trip
at such a time!“

He doesn‘t answer for a while.
“My wife has terminal cancer,
it was her last wish
to go there
once more.“

WERT DES LEBENS

Er fährt am dritten Tag des Mondjahres
mit seiner Frau
nach Tibet.

Alle Freunde sagen:
„Du traust dir zu viel!
In dieser Zeit
machst du eine Reise!“

Er sagt lange nichts.
„Meine Frau hat Krebs im Endstadium.
Es war ihr letzter Wusch,
dort noch einmal
hinzukommen.“

MUNDSCHUTZ – 摆丢 Bai Diu

Bai Diu
MUNDSCHUTZ

BOMBED

Kids from a certain internet site
used to moan all the time they wanted to die.
But once the danger really arrived,
haven’t seen one of them wanting to die anymore.

FLIEGERANGRIFF

Die Kinder von einer Internetseite,

die reden täglich vom Sterben.

Sobald die Gefahr wirklich da ist,

will keiner mehr tot sein.

THE STORY OF “THE SCREAM“ – 洪君植 Hong Junzhi

五月 2, 2020

Hong Junzhi
THE STORY OF “THE SCREAM“ BY EDVARD MUNCH

Yesterday I had lunch
with the guy from The Scream
by Edvard Munch
where he stands on the bridge.
I asked him,
What happened to your ears?
He said it was the worst day
of the Corona virus in Norway.
His Mama was gravely ill
and he walked across the bridge to take care of her.
But on the bridge, right in the middle,
someone snatched his face mask away.
What you see now, he said,
how I frantically clutch
my hands to my ears
is because both my ears
had been cut off.

DISCOVERY OF AN ANGRY YOUNG MAN

My mobile phone weighs 16 grams,
it’s full of all kinds of data,
political theory,
philosophical research,
classical literature.
But only recently I have discovered,
my mom’s mobile weighs 128 grams,
and it has only my photo.
