RETURN – 蓝冰 Lan Bing

RETURN

From the foot of the mountain all the way to the top
no trace of a person,
no sound of a bird.
Mighty snow
made the world very silent.
Sky and earth deserted.
I hoped to find a companion,
even a stranger.
But in the season for fires,
no furnace was lit.
Alone going up,
alone coming down,
I could only trace my own footprints.

SOUTH MOUNTAIN – 小麦 Xiao Mai

SOUTH MOUNTAIN

Along the road at the foot of South Mountain,
cars are parked everywhere.
While we are climbing,
the sunlight is fine.
There are some other people like us,
wearing face masks,
talking and laughing.
In the city, meeting up is forbidden.
So we sneak off,
two or three at a time,
to the slopes of South Mountain
to get outside and feel the wind.

At the top is the cemetery,
full of dead people.

DREAM FROM MAY 14

I am with a climbing team
mountain trekking for a few days
we are almost up at the summit
at the last slope
before our victory
sun appears right over the top
sky is deep blue
earth one plate of gold

for this most beautiful scene
I take down my camera
aim it at the red ball up there
so we have a picture

but then the sun goes out
like a lamp
sky is dark night
mountain top a silhouette
