NIGHT ROAMING

Tonight here in Luye
Muhammad Ali
sails very close to the earth.
His closest call since 1948, so they say.
He takes place in a translator’s workshop
in this small town near Taitung.
Muhammad Ali feels lik in paradise,
stings like a butterfly,
dances like bees.
Wasn’t it otherwise?
Doesn’t matter
tonight here in Luye.

《夜游》

今天晚上
是拳王阿里
离地球最近的一夜
六十多年只有這麽一次
他在台東鹿野龍田
参加翻譯會議
拳王阿里非常高興
跳舞像蜜蜂
刺像蝴蝶
是反过来的吧
今天晚上没關系

LAST EVENING IN LUYE

For a moment blue sky
is a monkey raging with fire;
a sailboat another moment,
then there are stars.
There was a rainbow,
motorcycle lights on a gate.
It’s a small church
across the road from our hotel,
haven’t noticed it in these few days.
Very low-key church,
like this low-key town
in south-eastern Taiwan.
Just started to get used to this place.
Tomorrow we’re going back to Taipei.

鹿野最後一晚上

晚上苍天一時
變成怒火的猴子
一會儿也没了
晚霞像帆船
星星出來了
刚才看到彩虹
摩托車ͺ 汽車的灯
照上鐡門
是个小教堂
我们民俗斜對面
这几天没発现。
很低调的教堂,
像台東鹿野龍田
這個地區
在台灣也許很低调。
剛剛開始熟悉,
明天早上要走了。
