VIETNAMESE MORNING TEETH
early morning, on a bus passing
an old narrow lane
feeling cold, not really awake
a small iron gate, halfway open
a little girl with a red schoolbag
walks out of that rusty gate
old motorcycle waits at the curb
dark, skinny father
before she climbs on the bike
she shouts towards the house
a woman in grey scurries out
holds the little girl’s head
messing her hair
woman says something
starting to laugh
man also laughs
little girl laughs
mouth after mouth, white gleaming teeth
