HE WAS SPECIAL POLICE IN XI’AN

When important foreigners came,
he was assigned
to guard the Terracotta Warriors.
He and his comrades
stood at attention
for several hours,
not moving a muscle
except blinking
maybe once per minute.
The foreign guests
exclaimed excitedly
that they looked like
“The Terracotta Army alive”.
He was 18
and thought that was
a huge commendation,
he felt greatly
honored.

给兵马俑站岗
他和战友们
站得笔直
几个小时
一动不动
眼睛一分钟
只眨一次
令外宾们
啧啧惊叹
说他们是
“活着的兵马俑”
那年他十八岁
觉得这是
莫大的夸奖
内心充满了
荣誉感
