In der Nacht hat es geregnet.
Auf dem Beton im Hof
sind ein paar ganz gerade Regenwürmer.
Mama mit Mundschutz rennt hinüber,
sobald sie sie mit der Schaufel anhebt
rollen sie sich sofort zusammen
und kriechen in Panik.
Sie bringt sie
zu den Blumenbeeten am Rand,
schaufelt gleich ein bisschen Erde
um die fünf aufgeschreckten Körper
und deckt sie zu.
Dabei sagt sie,
lebt gut weiter,
beschützt meine Kinder.

DOVE
In my sights straight in the distance,
a white dove
goes through a fire up to the sky.
Still it flies,
changed into black.
Maybe just its shadow,
its soul
flying. Maybe the ash
can keep the shape of a dove
sailing on.

YOU SAY WHEN YOU DIE IN FOREIGN PARTS, REEDS IN THE WIND WILL STAND IN – TO A POETRY FRIEND WHO DIED FROM THE VIRUS
Last summer
we walked at the reservoir,
saw how the reeds
swayed in the wind.
Two dragonflies,
one on top of the other,
landed on a reed.
Then
the wind picked up,
they couldn’t stay,
had to fly up
in the wind doing their thing,
one stacked on another
up in the air.
