we debate is an earthquake more scary,
or you sleep & a wind blows you out of a building?
There is no conclusion.
The unexpected thing in the end
is we don’t say we’re afraid,
we say
this is sad.

he is going to die in this part.
All the way till he really croaks,
down from the horse,
he’ll never reveal
who sat him up there.

DUCKS
All day
our ducks
swim together
with those from the neighbor
back and forth on the river.
At dusk
they climb on the shore
to walk back home.
My mother sees
one duck is missing,
goes to the neighbor to get it back.
She finds the duck
with a cut in its foot.
Our ducks
all have that hole
in their right feet,
so we know they are ours.
My mother did it with scissors.
My mom and I
talk about this today,
suddenly
there is a question:
Are there any nerves
in their feet?
I look online,
find no answer.

一起在河面上
游来游去
到傍晚
它们就会上岸
回自己的家
我妈发现
回来的鸭少了一只
就去邻居家找
找到那只
脚蹼有个口子的
就抓回自己家
我家的鸭子
右脚的脚蹼
都有一个口子
那是作为
属于我家的标记
我妈用剪刀剪开的
今天跟我妈
聊起往事
突然一个问题
冒了出来——
鸭的脚蹼
有没有神经分布
我去网上查
没查到

THIS IS SPRING
Walking along this camphor tree street,
shops all deserted.
There is a pair
talking in front of glass doors.
Male tells the female,
“don’t look down on a sweeping job,
at least there are flexible hours.”
I don’t hear what she answers.
There is the sound
of a broom on the ground.
I look over there,
don’t find any person.
There is a handle
on top of a car
going back and forth.
A wind comes up
through camphor tree branches,
dry leaves swirling down.

在栽满香樟树的街边走过
两边的店面冷清
一对男女
在一扇玻璃门前聊天
男的对女的说
“不要看不上扫地这份工作
至少时间是自由的”
我没有听到女的回答
只听到了沙沙的扫地声
顺着声音望去
看不到人
只看到一个扫帚的柄
在一排汽车的顶部
来回摆动
一阵风吹过
满街的香樟树抖动枝条
枯叶纷纷飘落
