TO EACH HIS OWN COMMON
He says there are Western common values
and so there are Eastern common values.
Then there must be Southern common values
and Northern common values.
Maybe there are Southeast common values
and Northeast common values.
Or also Southwest common values
and Northwest common values.
Could there be North-by-Northwest common values
and South-by-Southwest common values?
Or rather North-by-northeast common values
and East-by-Northeast common values
as well as South-by-Southeast common values and East-by-Southeast common values?
Counting on my fingers,
I realize there should be
your common values and my common values
as well as those of his side
and also her side,
to each his own common.

Ein Mensch vom Süden kommt in die Innere Mongolei
und sagt die Leute haben ein Charakterproblem.
Zum Beispiel, er will Jiaozi essen,
geht zum Fleischhauer um die Füllung,
sagt, bitte weniger, nur für eine Person.
Dann sagt der Fleischhauer,
allein Jiaozi essen, was soll das.
Das war noch gar nichts.
In den 80er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts,
irgendwo in der Inneren Mongolei,
ein Mensch vom Süden in einem Gasthaus
taucht seine Jiaozi nicht in Essig
und wird von der Polizei festgenommen.

况禹点评《新诗典》赵卡《饺子演义》:读赵卡这首诗，一上来我还真“卡”了一下——我俗了一下，在猜他写的那个南方人是谁?(是不是姓徐?)接下来读“不蘸醋”的故事就顺了，寥寥五行，联想到了王志文的《无悔追踪》。两个故事主人公被盯住的原因近似——跟别人不一样，我国的习俗乃至文化里都有这个东西——强求人合群，你必须跟大家一样，不然你就是可疑的，甚至有可能是坏人。这思维在侦破时可能相当管用，但搁在正常生活、文化生活，多少却有些让人瘆得慌了。饺子馅的种类比较丰富，各品各味吧。这是我的所想。
《饺子演义》之安若乱弹：对于我们北方人，一提到饺子，感觉很亲切，再说到“一个人，吃什么饺子”这话，更是让人感觉亲上加亲。饺子是我们北方大部分地区的一道美食，俗话说“好吃不过饺子，舒服不如躺着”，充分阐释了我们北方人对饺子的依恋。现今多元社会，各方面充分融合，南北方地域差异逐渐缩小，饺子已不再是我们北方人独有的地方食品，特别是古来饺子是大部分北方人春节的一道美食，这就更给饺子赋予了特有的文化内涵，特别是置身异国他乡的人，读到这里也会“每逢佳节倍思亲”的吧。饺子，代表的就是家的味道，是团圆之意，所以“一个人吃啥饺子”这句就充分体现了出来。至于后面的不蘸醋被警察抓，纯属为文本增加意趣和神秘感吧。饺子——大爱！
