People like to see shiny things,
for example a metal spoon.
They like to follow
moving things with their eyes,
for example anything that moves.
Shiny moving things,
they follow them even more.
The best example would be
the eyes they need for seeing.

GEDANKEN AM VALENTINSTAG
Zu Neujahr spazier ich am Ufer des Ting.
Ein paar alte Junge Intellektuelle
erzählen von der Landverschickung.
Wo sie gewohnt haben auf dem Land,
der Hausherr war Haus Ost,
die Hausfrau haben sie Haus West genannt.
Zuerst war das für mich sehr neu.
Am nächsten Tag im Yancheng-Gebäude
kauf ich ein Buch mit Geschichten von solchen Leuten,
es heißt “Der Taiba-Walzer”.
Die erste Geschichte ist von Shu Ting,
genau über Haus-Ost und Haus-West.
Ich habs auf dem Weg ein paarmal gelesen
und für mich geschmunzelt und geseufzt.
Die jungen Verschickten waren sehr weise.
Ost-West, das heißt Ding, alle Dinge:
Essen, Trinken, Frauen, Männer
unter einem Haus.

Anmerkung: In der Kulturrevolution wurden ‘junge Intellektuelle’ oder “gebildete Jugendliche” (“zhiqing”) in Massen aus den Staedten in entlegene Gebiete aufs Land verschickt, um dort zu arbeiten. Hausherr, Vermieter oder Vermieterin heißt auf Chinesisch Fang-dong, wörtlich Haus-Ost (der Hausherr wohnte im Osten des Hofes).
Dong-xi, wörtlich Ost-West, ist ‘Ding’ oder ‘Dinge’.
伊沙推荐:随着《人世间》的热播，知青一代再次回到人们关注的视野中，被孙子辈所关注。那一代人真不容易，他们当年战天斗地的插队生活也一定是酸甜苦辣俱全，我们的诗也跟过来了，在张居士笔下变得更有意味，更富禅意。
况禹点评《新诗典》张小云《情人节想到的东西》:诗中“房东”“房西”两个词，说明了生活中口语的活力。能在疫情和全球动荡的写出此作，说明了小云作为诗人的好定力、好性情。不过补充一个细节，我小时很少倒是听长辈们讲他们支边插队的事。大约还是心里太苦吧。所以迄今也不太相信那个年代城里人去了乡下能乐到啥地步。即便文学里也曾遇到过梁晓声阿城王小波的各自演绎。借用另一位小说家的名言大意——坐过牢的人事后回忆起大墙往事，说不定也会觉得某些场景是美好的，虽然现实根本不是那么回事。
黎雪梅读《新世纪诗典》之张小云《情人节想到的东西》：从“老知青”对当年知青生活的回忆，我们看到了知青们在艰苦单调的环境中迸发出的生活智慧及独特的创造性，也折射出了词语的变迁，可以说时代的发展也相应地驱动了语言文字的发展。本诗的语言俏皮活泼富有幽默感，记叙的事件较为久远，读来却仍觉得新鲜，并没有违和感。丰富的情感与思想性兼具，也是对诗歌意识的自由呈现。有些东西虽然随着时间的流逝，逐渐淡出人们视线，但却在记忆里永存。

这又是一首让我有点不知道怎么评的诗。一首神奇的诗。
诗歌的角度和素材都没得说。说实话，很特别，很新奇！
写知青的诗是有的。但用这种方式写知青的诗，我真的没有读到过。
角度新奇是此诗的第一个重要特点。
作者写的是知青，但本质上其实写的是情人节自己内心的感受。(从内容看，本质指向应该是爱情、婚姻和生活)
素材特别是此诗的第二个重要特点。
写知青的诗歌有很多，但站在“男主被称为房东，女主被称为房西”这个有趣的素材上来写的，几乎没有。最起码我是没有看到过。
素材的特别，自然带来了诗歌非常不同的趣味感和新颖度。
语言特别是此诗的第三个重要特点。
这首诗的语言非常松弛自然。可以讲，完全就是在说话，就是在给读者讲个故事。仅此而已！但“内里”却闪现着浓厚的趣味性。读来，还有一种幽默感！这很不容易。
最后两句尤其出彩。它直接指向了本诗的“诗核”。也就是作者情人节想到的答案！至于答案是什么，作者其实已经说了。
请读者自己仔细体会！虽然，每个人的答案可能会不同！

Is the sky a work of art?
Is the sky a piece of work?
I guess the sky
is the biggest
artwork on earth,
the most democratic.
For most people it’s free,
always open
except when it’s closed
but even then.
It’s very distinctive.
No-one else can do it.
Except maybe on some other planet
but for us in our lifetime
for every thing or being we know
if they are on earth
we have this sky
and for most of us
it is free.
Of course it’s not harmless.
No-one can say he or she made the sky
unless you are talking to God
or your lover,
your child.
It’s the most precious thing
we know.
