SONG CONTEST
An opera singer
from Austria
has won the Eurovision Song Contest.
Nice young guy.
Asian features, somehow.
Very high voice,
some people love that.
Sorry, I don’t like it at all.
I can’t stand high notes
except the Queen of the Night
in Mozart’s Magic Flute.
I can sing that piece
with my bass.
When high notes become Jazz,
l’art pour l’art,
there is no meaning,
no other pathos,
practically Dada.
So that’s the exception.
Otherwise I run from high notes.
A few years ago
there was a wonderful song from Ukraine.
And there was that drag queen
from Austria.
Those were great moments,
high moments of song.

NATIONAL DAY
This is Austria’s National Day.
You can stand in line
for a rather long time
to look inside.
It feels rather hollow.
You knew that before.
Most people are friendly,
guarding the power.
Rooms are old and tall.
Imperial times
are very remote.
Everyone knows
something unspeakable
was in between.

Qizi
PFIRSICHHAIN
Je höher ich steig,
desto näher bin ich an Gottes Sicht.
Der zehnte Stock ist nicht genug.
Vom 23. Stock
seh ich den Pfirsichhain überm Fluss.
Überhaupt nicht schön!
Ganz quadratisch,
wie ein dreckiger rosa Kuchen,
der runtergefallen ist.
Ich nehm den Lift wieder hinunter
und geh zum Fluss.
Auf der anderen Seite
sind nur ein paar Bauernhäuser,
die bald abgerissen werden.
Der Pfirsichhain ist nicht zu sehen.
Ich denk an die gelben Pfirsiche vom letzten Sommer,
die waren sehr gut.

从爸妈老房子里

运来放在我家车库
大大小小几十包
昨天又搬去了
刚装修好的新家
那些陈旧杂乱的
箱子和包裹
填满了所有空隙
显得和崭新的房间
格格不入
今天去火车站
接来我爸妈
领他们回到这个
他们第一次走进的家
当我妈弯腰
打开一个箱子
爸像个监工
从客厅到房间转悠
我眼前这个家
突然就协调了起来

ON THE MOON
when you’re very low down
writing on the moon
is putting together beautiful words
or smart little phrases
a little less low
you think writing the moon
means romantic imagination
of a shallow disposition
when you start to go up
you realize the moon
the eternal waste land
ten thousand lonely generations
in your human heart
you step on the moon
